By Mark Hearn, president and CEO of Network Control and president of ETMA
As the president of the Enterprise Technology Management Association (ETMA), and president and CEO of Network Control, I recently attended our conference in Phoenix, AZ. In addition to a packed agenda full of useful sessions on diverse topics such as: Telecom Expense Management, Managed Mobility Services and Cloud Management. With attendees like Apple, Verizon Wireless and Google presenting their solutions, the Association truly put itself on the map as a group of subject matter experts seeking to deliver the most powerful solutions to businesses.
Just as important, ETMA raised over $10,000 for ChildHelp, a national non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse.
A few observations: this year’s conference was attended by more organizations than ever before, resulting in a rich group of TEM industry thought leaders. The participating companies manage a combined $85 Billion in annual Telecom spend which is remarkable. Ironically, estimates suggest that at least 20% of the Fortune 1000 still don’t have any comprehensive TEM solution in place. That number is likely higher so there’s still work to be done!
The event was also a reminder for me that ETMA is the only non-profit association for the industry, and is focused on setting meaningful standards and best practices with the singular intention to have our industry work collaboratively in order to deliver the most value possible to the enterprise. I’m proud that I and my company are an active participant of this effort.
With SD-WAN growing at 25% annually and IOT devices growing from the current 27 Billion devices to 75 Billion in only 5 short years, the ETMA Association and its members have a focus on evolving solutions to best manage the inventory and spend, as well as continuing to spread the word about the value, security and process improvements that come from a TEM solution.
All in all, I felt that this year’s conference brought together industry leaders and a sense of collaboration and true partnership where all participants truly want to work together in order to better our industry. We look forward to our Fall 2020 Conference in San Diego, CA.
