The Growing Need for Global TEM

In today’s hyper-connected business environment, companies rely more than ever on the Internet, telecommunications networks and mobile technologies to operate their businesses globally, interact with customers and remain competitive. With that in mind, there are a couple of core TEM initiatives which are driving change and pushing IT to find solutions to meet their company’s overall demand for spend management tools.

Below are three core drivers:

1. Global Total Cost of Ownership (GTCO)
   Many companies are proactively adopting a global spend management tool as it has been shown to improve operational productivity and performance.  This solution allows companies to have more visibility on a global basis rather than in a vacuum. Another key factor is it enables the means for procurement to bill-pay processes to be incorporated enterprise-wide on a global TCO basis.
2. Fiscally Responsibility and Compliance
   With increasing changes in regulatory compliance C-Level executives are more than ever concerned with maintaining proper corporate contract governance throughout the lifecycle of the service. Just as important are all the data law compliance changes** that must be adhered to as data crosses international boundaries. We are seeing TEM becoming a practical choice for delivering immediate savings for budget-constrained global enterprises that are confronted with the rising taxes, sun setting of services, or end-of-life services. TEM allows for greater visibility and control over corporate or budgetary spending that C-level executives or administrators need and can be viewed at the most granular and category-specific level to enact better spend controls and compliance.
3. Mobility Control
   Employees are increasingly more mobile and distributed due to globalization and telecommuting. Therefore another initiative we are seeing more and more often is increased corporate investments spend management programs for their telecommunications environment. As a result of the vast amount of communication channels between companies and their employees and their customers the sheer volume of communication has been growing at dramatic rates, especially as it relates to mobile data use.

Telecommunications Expense Management has become an important area of focus for global companies that are facing a wide range of challenges.
